Summer News 2023 about the Swiss Travel System
Summer is just around the corner, which means it’s time to make travel plans.
At the top of the list: The Grand Train Tour of Switzerland. Arguably the most beautiful train journey in the world, it is also a guarantee for unforgettable travel experiences. A trip on the GoldenPass Express is particularly recommended. With the timetable change on 11 June, the latest panorama train offers even more direct connections between Montreux and Interlaken.
There is also news from Zermatt, as the Matterhorn Glacier Ride II cableway will start operating in spring. The anniversaries of various mountain railways, which are celebrating their 130th anniversary this year, are also steeped in history.
The world’s steepest cog railway, the Pilatus Railway, is set to get a major overhaul and will soon take delivery of eight top-modern trains by Swiss manufacturer Stadler Rail.
Not quite as old but equally as impressive is the anniversary of the Bernina Express. Since its first journey 50 years ago, the premium panoramic train has welcomed more than 100 million guests.
