Monte Generoso is not only the most scenic mountain in Ticino, but has also developed into a green destination thanks to its commitment to sustainability.

At 1,704 metres above sea level, Monte Generoso is the ideal destination for the whole family and for all those who prefer hiking in the midst of nature, environmental protection and traditional Ticino cuisine and wine. 

From Capolago on Lake Lugano, the only cog railway in Ticino, the Ferrovia Monte Generoso, takes you along the 9 km route to the Bellavista middle station. Here, hikers will find the renovated iconic Grotto Buffet Bellavista, the perfect place for a gourmet break in the countryside and then reach the Fiore di pietra summit building by Mario Botta on foot or by train.  

From here, visitors can enjoy a unique 360-degree panorama of the Swiss and Savoy Alps, lakes and valleys. In summer, this route can also be travelled by steam train dating back to 1890.  The valley station is also easily accessible by boat from Lugano or by train from all over Switzerland and Lombardy.
